Local company N-Range Maldives is hosting a competitive run on March 22 for International Woman's Day.

'Maldives Women's Run' run dedicated for women was launched by Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Yumna Maumoon at a special ceremony.

According to N-Range, starting from this year, the run will be an annual event with 100 percent women's participation.

"Our goal is to get 2500 women to participate", said an official from N-Range.

The five-kilometre run has two categories, 6-13 years and 13 years and above. From each category, the fastest five runners will be selected and given prize money.

Additionally, the ten winners will be registered for a women's run marathon held in Dubai.

Furthermore, each runner who completes the run will be awarded a special medal.

Velana International Airport (VIA) is the title sponsor for this event.

Participants can register for the event at the official website of Maldives Women's Run. They are required to pay MVR 100 as a registration fee.

Payment collection and T-shirt issuing will take place at an expo which will be held two days prior to the run.
