Labour Party opens applications for parliamentary election

Maldives Labour and Social Democratic Party (MLSDP) has opened applications for party candidates in the upcoming Parliamentary Elections.

The Labour Party, which is led by Lawyer Abdul Haseen, released a statement announcing open applications for independent and other party representatives to apply for their party ticket.

Several independent and party candidates are contesting for the 87 constituencies in the Parliamentary Elections slated for April 6. The political parties include: Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), Jumhooree Party (JP), Adhaalath Party, Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), People’s National Congress (PNA), Maldives Third-way Democrats (MTD) and now MLSDP.

According to the Labour Party, the candidates can apply for the party ticket online via e-mail. The party, however, did not release a deadline for the application window.

The Labour Party previously reported that they will be competing for 15 constituencies. Haseen declared that Labour Party will fight for the rights of all workers in the country.
