The Privatisation Board, on Thursday, appointed Thazmeel Abdul Samad as the Managing Director of Maldives Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) and Ali Midhuhath as a board member of Public Service Media (PSM).
Thazmeel was designated to the position as a representative of the Maumoon Reform Movement (MRM) and previously served as the executive coordinator of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The newly appointed MD was arrested during the state of emergency declared following the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling of February 1, 2018, which had called for the release of key political prisoners.
Midhuhath, who was designated as a board member of PSM, was formerly employed at local media outlet Sun TV, which is managed by Sun Media Group (SMG).
