Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) is simultaneously representing Maldives in three international tourism fairs in order to maintain the country's competitive position in the global tourism market.

According to a statement released by MMPRC, the three fairs are the Dusseldorf International Boat Show in Germany, FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid, Spain and the three-day Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) in Mumbai, India.

MMPRC asserted that its representation of Maldives in these fairs would benefit the local tourism industry. The corporation stated that it had decided to step up its activities as other major tourist destinations were also carrying out promotional activities. According to MMPRC, Maldives needed to exert efforts to remain on an equal footing with such destinations.

In addition to the promotional activities carried out overseas, MMPRC continues to host events within the country. The corporation held a seminar on Thursday to educate local guesthouses regarding utilizing social media to create effective marketing strategies. The seminar was included in President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s 100-day pledges.

MMPRC has also announced plans to hold seminars regarding advertising strategies in 11 regions across the country during February 2019 for all guesthouse establishments.

According to MMPRC, 2019 is the first year in which their advertising campaigns have been extended to include all sectors of the tourism industry.
