Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) on Wednesday submitted two corruption cases uncovered by an audit to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Although the audit was carried out recently, the two cases sent to the corruption watchdog for investigation were from 2016. DJA has not made accusations against any individual or company.

One of the cases involve dealings between DJA and a third party which was tasked with establishing a Civil Court division in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale’. According to the audit, DJA awarded the contract before receiving approval from Ministry of Finance. Additionally, it was also revealed that DJA released funds shortly after the project was assigned.

The second case deals with DJA purchasing a treadmill under the registration of the High Court. The audit revealed that the court had not made any such order. The treadmill in question never arrived at the High Court and was instead found at the Supreme Court.

DJA functions under the Supreme Court and charged with oversight of all administrative matters of the judiciary.
