President appoints members to National Awards Committee and Special Achievement Awards Committee

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Thursday, made several appointments to the National Awards Committee and the Special Achievement Awards Committee.

Former Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Aneesa Ahmed was appointed as the Chairperson of the National Awards Committee. Additionally, Ibrahim Ismail Ali, Zulfa Ibrahim and Aminath Naaz were also appointed to the committee.

The remaining members of the committee include Corporate Service Secretary of the Presidents’ Office Hussain Amir, Ahmed Ali Manik, Mohamed Ikram, Raheema Adam and Hassan Manik.

Minister of Higher Education Ibrahim Hassan was appointed to the position of Chairperson of the Special Achievement Awards Committee. Other members who were appointed to the committee are Dr Ahmed Ali Manik, Mariyam Nooradheen and Mariyam Shifzan.

The remaining members of the committee include Dr Ibrahim Zakariyya Moosa, Dr Abdul Azeez Yoosuf and Aishath Shaheen.

The government annually confers the National Award to individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to society and the development of the nation.

Both the National Award of Honour and National Award of Recognition are granted as National Awards.

Meanwhile, the Special Achievement Award is conferred every year by the government to recognize individuals who attained exceptional academic achievement at a national level.
