The Privatisation Board, on Sunday, appointed Ibrahim Hilmy as Chairman of Public Service Media (PSM) and Mariyam Waheedha to its board of members.
Ibrahim Hilmy served as the first vice president of the Privatisation Board which was formed in 2015. However, he was not included in the board after its members were re-appointed following the amendment of regulations regarding PSM.
Mariyam Waheedha was a member of the now-dissolved Maldives National Broadcasting Corporation (MNBC), which was founded in 2015 by former President Mohamed Nasheed to manage state media.
Waheedha also contested for membership in the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBc). However, the parliament did not approve her appointment despite the fact that she achieved the highest number of points.
Currently, the Managing Director of PSM is former Chief Executive Officer of Television Maldives (TVM) Ali Khalid, while the Deputy Director is Mohamed Shameem.
