One and Only Reethi Rah Resort, located in North Kaafu Atoll, has announced the commencement of their annual apprenticeship programme.
In a statement given to local media Mihaaru, the Learning and Development Manager of Reethi Rah Kim Pink said that the programme was mainly aimed at the students who have completed their Advanced Levels examinations.
Pink described the one year programme as including components from housekeeping services, front office experience, food and beverage, diving centre and water sports.
The apprentice programme kicks off with two weeks of special classes, following which candidates will be appointed to different departments of the resort for a period of 6 months.
After the initial 26-week training period, apprentices will be given the chance to join one out of three departments of their own choosing. In this way, the second round of the programme allows the apprentices to pursue a field of their interest and specialise in that sector.
Pink stated that, as with previously held programmes, the programme will commence with a three 3 month evaluation period. Pink also added that permanent positions would be offered to trainees who prove to be qualified by the end of their apprenticeship.
One and Only Reethi Rah is set to host a special job fair looking for potential trainees for their apprenticeship programme on Saturday from 1000 to 1500 hours at the Central Hotel, where interested applicants will be able to present their portfolios and curriculum vitae. However, the resort is also accepting online submissions.
Stating that there are limited requirements for the application for the job, the resort's management noted that applicants must be over 18 years of age and must have completed their A’levels. Possessing good communication skills will be an advantage.
One and Only Reethi Rah initiated their prestigious apprenticeship programme in 2010. Currently, several employees of Reethi Rah trace the beginning of their careers in hospitality to being participants in the apprenticeship programme.
