Five new deputy ministers appointed

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed five new Deputy Ministers to five different Ministries.

The new appointees are:

Deputy Ministers

1) Deputy Minister to Ministry of Tourism - Dr. Naushad Mohamed

2) Deputy Minister to Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation - Hidhaya Nasir

3) Deputy Minister to Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Abdullah Humaid

4) Deputy Minister to Ministry of Education - Sharma Nasir

5) Deputy Minister to Ministry of Islamic Affairs - Ahmedullah Jameel

Thus far, newly elected President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has selected a total of eight Deputy Ministers. Four other Deputy Ministers were appointed on December, 4 to two select ministries.

However, there is now an accumulated total of 29 Deputy Ministers, that is including the appointed Deputies by former president Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

The current administration plans to appoint 39 Ministers of State, as well as 50 deputy ministers.

There are 29 newly appointed Ministers of State in the current administration.

Each Minister of State is qualified for a salary of MVR 32, 000 with an additional allowance of MVR 15,000, bringing the total sum of eligible earnings to MVR 47,000.

Each Deputy Minister is qualified for a salary of MVR 20,500 with an additional allowance of MVR 15,000, bringing the total sum of eligible earnings to MVR 35,500.
