Ibrahim Shaheeb was appointed Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on December 4, 2018.
In his new position, Shaheeb is afforded the same authority as the rank of a State Minister.
The role of Chief of Protocol was established as a political post by former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Mohamed Shahudhee, who held the post during Yameen's reign, precedes Shaheeb.
The new Chief of Protocol is widely regarded as one of the most experienced diplomats in the country.
