The President’s Office, on Thursday, opened for submission of complaints by people who have been criminally charged for political gain since February 1, 2012.
President's Office has set January 5 as the deadline for submissions.
The committee was established by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, in an effort to release those who have been criminally charged out of political motives.

The committee was established on the first day of the presidency and was a major electoral pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. In keeping with his pledge, President Solih established the “Committee on Releasing Political Detainees” on the first day of his Presidential term, 17 November 2018.
