An Indian expatriate worker in Kanduhulhudhoo, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, died after being struck by an excavator.
A member of the Island Council revealed that the expatriate was an employee at the state-owned Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).
The 35-year-old had been working on the development of the island's harbour.
MTCC is contracted to develop the harbour.
"There are no substantial signs of damage on his body. He was immediately transferred to the health centre and was administered treatment," said the council member.
