President of the Privatisation Board Mohamed Nizar, on Tuesday, announced that Shahid Ali and Hassan Mughny were appointed as the Managing Directors of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), respectively.
According to local media outlet Mihaaru, Shahid was appointed as a representative of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP). Shahid had previously served as the Managing Director of State Trading Organization (STO) during the presidency of Mohamed Nasheed.
Mihaaru reported that Mughny, who served as STELCO’s Managing Director during the presidency of Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, was re-appointed to the post as a representative of the Jumhooree Party (JP).
The Privatisation Board appointed Managing Directors to three state enterprises during the past week.
The appointments include Hussain Amru Mohamed Rashaad who was appointed to STO and Adam Azim to the Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) and Mohamed Rizvee was appointed as the Managing Director of Island Aviation.
