The Adhaalath Party, on Sunday, announced their decision to contest 13 constituencies in the parliamentary elections slated for March 2019.

Constituencies which will be contested by Adhaalath Party representatives

-Kelaa, Haa Alifu Atoll

-Vaikaradhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll

-Kulhudhuffushi, Haa Dhaalu Atoll (North)

-Makunudhu, Haa Dhaalu Atoll

-Inguraidhoo, Raa Atoll

-Kaashidhoo, Kaafu Atoll

-Mahibadhoo, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll

-Mulaku, Meemu Atoll

-Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll

-Gan, Laamu Atoll

-Fuvahmulah (South)

-Feydhoo, Shaviyani Atoll

-Maafannu North

A recently leaked document revealed that the coalition leaders had previously discussed a seat-sharing agreement, under which they consented to nominate candidates according to fixed proportions.

The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) accounts for 40 percent, Jumhooree Party (JP) receives 25 percent, Adhaalath Party (AP) receives 15 percent and the Maumoon Reform Movement (MRM) receives 20 percent.

As per the seat-sharing agreement, MDP is to contest for a total of 35 seats within the parliament; JP, AP and MRM with 22, 13 and 17 seats, respectively.

MDP on Saturday stated that they did not sign any seat-sharing agreements and declared the decision to contest all 87 constituencies.
