President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Sunday visited Dhoonidhoo Prison to assess the condition of the prison.
The president was accompanied by Minister of Defence and National Security Mariya Ahmed Didi and Minister of Home Affairs Sheikh Imran Abdulla.
According to the President's Office, President Solih inspected both cells allocated for political prisoners and regular prisoners. He also inquired about requirements to improve the conditions of the prison.
Furthermore, the president discussed with Minister Mariya and Minister Imran on ways to improve the situation of the prison.
This is President Solih's first visit to a prison since he was sworn into office on November 17.
