Maldives on Thursday dismissed the heads of several government institutions.

In a tweet, the Privatisation Board shared that the top officials of 11 state companies were terminated, including state-run Public Service Media (PSM), Island Aviation Services (IAS) and State Electric Company (STELCO).

The 20 dismissed officials include IAS' Managing Director Abdul Haris, STELCO's Managing Director Ahmed Zuhoor, PSM's Managing Director Ibrahim Khaleel and Deputy Managing Director Moahmed Ikram, the chairmen of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and Fenaka Corporation, and several board members of other companies.

The Privatisation Board has dismissed these officials amidst major changes brought to the government by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who was sworn in last Saturday.
