Popular talent showcasing platform 'Fannuge Dharin', is set to return on Saturday, at the Skatepark located in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale' on Saturday, dropping infectious bass lines from 1400 hours till midnight.
This November, the event is held in celebration of the 5-year anniversary since the musical, art-infused sessions first took place in 2013. Loosely translating to 'Children of Talent', Fannuge Dharin is also a wordplay on the term 'Talent Gathering'.
The leading organizer, musician and bassist Adhuham Mohamed Rashid described 'Fannu ge Dharin' is a platform by artists for artists, both upcoming and established, to meet, share, inspire one another. It also aims to provide a space for young artists to grow with the help of more experienced creatives in the community.
Initially, the gatherings feature musicians alone but down the line, various visual artists were added to the lineup. According to Adhuham, the anniversary gathering will further expand this year, incorporating local entrepreneurs in the field of crafts as well as, food and beverage for the first time, in addition to a live painting session and a gallery.
The Fannu (Talent) stage has been graced by an array of beloved local musicians including legendary Ahmed 'Fuloo' Nashid and his daughter Nishfa Nashid, Ahmed Affan (Appi), Nausheyn Zubair (Fah'thu), Anya Haleem and many others.
