Sri Lankan PM expresses confidence of Islamic Nations' support

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahindra Rajapakse, on Tuesday, issued a statement expressing gratitude to Islamic nations for their continued show of support to his country.

Rajapakse issued the statement on a notable Islamic holiday, conveying well wishes to Muslims all over the world in addition to those living in Sri Lanka.

The birth anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad is celebrated by Sri Lankan Muslims through acts of charity, contemplating the teachings of the holy prophet and carrying out other religious duties.

Controversially appointed Rajapakse maintains his position as Prime Minister despite calls for his resignation and two votes of no confidence.
