President Solih appoints police deputy commissioner

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday appointed Abdul Mannan Yoosuf as the Deputy Commissioner of Police.

Maldives Police Service have also confirmed his appointment.

Mannan was previously the Assistant Commissioner of Police, until he was dismissed following the Supreme Court's landmark order on February 1 to release political prisoners. The police disciplinary board had fired him last May over allegedly releasing confidential information to unauthorised persons.

He was reappointed to the post on September 30, following the newly sworn-in President Solih's victory in the September 23 election.
