President Solih forms special commission to solve cold cases

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has formed a special commission to investigate the cold cases of unsolved murders and disappearances.

The commission announced November 17 consists of the members:

- Husnu al-Suood

- Abdulla Munaz

- Adam Ibrahim

- Fareesha Abdulla

- Misbah Abbas

According to the President's Office, the commission was formed under the authority accorded the president as per Article 115 of the Constitution.

The commission is mandated to investigate the unsolved murders and disappearance that occurred between January 1, 2012, and November 17, 2018.

The Office stated that President Solih formed the commission in order to uphold the state's responsibility to conduct transparent and reliable investigations into the truth behind the cases, and ensure justice.

Unveiling the truth behind missing journalist Ahmed Rilwan, and catching the perpetrators behind the murders of lawmaker Dr. Afrasheem Ali and blogger Yameen Rasheed, was one of the electoral pledges of Solih.
