The oath taking ceremony of President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President-Elect Faisal Naseem is scheduled to take place on Saturday.
Solih had won the 2018 presidential election with a sizeable lead, contesting against former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Solih’s oath taking ceremony is set to begin at 05:00 p.m, at the national stadium, infront of an audience of 13,000 people.

India and Maldives have suffered strains in bilateral ties during the regime of the outgoing president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. This is his maiden voyage to Maldives, since assuming office in 2014. Modi hopes to strengthen ties between Maldives and neighbouring India during the administration of the opposition coalition.
