President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Wednesday, departed to Saudi Arabia to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of Umra.
Solih was accompanied to Velana International Airport (VIA) by the leader of Jumhooree Party, Qasim Ibrahim, the Deputy Leader of Adhaalath Party, Ali Zahir and several parliamentarians.
Solih’s spokesperson, Mariya Ahmed Didi, has stated that the president-elect will meet certain top Saudi government officials before his return to Maldives on November 9.
The president-elect had earlier travelled to Sri Lanka and Singapore following his electoral victory on September 23, 2018.
Solih won the presidential election over incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom by a lead of more than 38,000 votes.
