Club Eagles’ striker, Ahmed Rizwan, scored five hat-tricks in five consecutive matches of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premiere League, the same number of goals scored by the Guinness World Record holder for most consecutive hat-tricks in competitive matches.

The Guinness World Record is currently held by Croatian striker Stjepan Lucijanic for five hat-tricks scored in a row in 2016.

The previous record was set by Japanese international forward Masashi Nakayama, who at the age of 18 scored four hat-tricks in a row while playing for Jubilo Iwata in 1998.

Rizwan, who is the first Maldivian footballer to catch up to a Guinness World Record, has netted 16 goals in the last five matches. He scored four goals against Thimarafushi, Thaa Atoll, and a hat-trick against Foakaidhoo, Shaviyani Atoll and Fehendhoo, Baa Atoll. He also managed to score two goals in the first leg against Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll, while scoring another two against the team in their second leg match held on Saturday.

Club Eagles' coach Shiyaz praised Rizwan stating that “scoring five hat-tricks in five consecutive matches is no easy feat even by international standards”.

While Rizwan has not been offered a spot on the national team during the ongoing tenure of Peter Segrt from Croatia, Shiyaz cited the talent and skill exhibited by the striker and expressed his belief that Rizwan deserved such an opportunity.

Originally hailing from Dhiffushi, Kaafu Atoll, Rizwan’s hat-trick streak ended when Eagles lost its latest match to Maziya with 1-0.

The striker has played under three renowned coaches in his career so far, including former Club Eagle’s coach Ihsan Abdul Ghani, Ali Suzain and his current coach Mohamed Shiyaz. In addition to his personal score of 23 during this season, Rizwan is also highly praised for his skillful assists.

Eagles is set to play against Green Streets Club on Monday before the season ends.
