MSCCEM holds second conference on critical care, medical emergency

The second annual Critical Care and Emergency Medical Conference (CRITICON) Maldives 2018, organized by Maldives Society of Critical Care and Emergency Medicine (MSCCEM), concluded at Bandos Island Resort on Saturday.

The main conference, which comprises of a number of symposiums featured medically experienced guest speakers in the fields of Hemodynamics, Respiration, Renal and more, was held on October 27.

Meanwhile, various workshops including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training, Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care (BASIC) course, Hemodynamic Monitoring course and the World Interactive Network Focused on Critical Ultrasound (WINFOCUS) program is being held through October 25 - 29.

Local experts in the medical sector were joined by world renowned speakers from these fields in carrying out the workshops and various symposiums in the conference. Foreign delegates include experts from the United Kingdom, Australia, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Thailand.

The workshops are being held at state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in collaboration with their National Healthcare Academy (NHA). All workshops are organized as two-day events except for the Hemodynamics Monitoring course which is a one-day event.

According to MSCCEM, the purpose of organizing these programmes is to train doctors and nurses alike to be better prepared for various scenarios that they may face while working in critical care units and emergency departments.
