An authentic Italian restaurant ‘Taste of Italy’, was launched in the heart of Malé City on Wednesday, introducing a range of 'pasta-bilities' to Maldivian palates.

The launching was inaugurated by President-Elect Mohamed Ibrahim Solih and Vice President-Elect Faisal along with a politically star-studded guest list that included Director General of Transition Ahmed Latheef, Maldives Democratic Party Hassan Latheef and Machangoalhi North MP Mariya Ahmed Didi.

The restaurant brand, owned by Bison Travel Maldives, offers an experience specially curated by Chef Giovanni De Ambrosis, the corporate Chef of Cocoon Maldives.

'Taste of Italy' adopts the traditional form of making pizza, fired up in a two tonne stone oven. The oven features Italian beechwood used to bake truly bona fide mouth-watering Italian pizzas.

According to the Managing Director of Bison Travels Maldives Mohamed Abdul Majeed (Monni), the idea is to “provide an authentic Italian experience” and that the restaurant aims to provide the same quality and standards provided by luxury resorts.

The restaurant also boasts its own brand of coffee that is processed and roasted in Italy. The coffee can be purchased by retailers and resorts, available in the form of beans capsules and pods.

Mentioning the Mozzarella Cheese Lab situated in the restaurant, Monni added that it was capable of producing up to 600 kilogrammes of mozzarella cheese per hour.

A Bison group representative also shared the company's intent to open an outlet in Hulhumale’ in the near future.

‘Taste of Italy' will officially open doors and welcome foodies in Maldives, starting Friday.
