MNDF saved a local woman known to be suffering from mental illness during an attempt to jump from a two-story building in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale’ on Wednesday morning.
The woman, a resident living on the third floor of the "China Flat" apartment complex, was spotted sitting atop a cement overhang after climbing out of a window.
In a video recording, the woman seemed to be speaking loudly about the abuse of a child, but the audio was not clear enough to make out further details.
Maldives National Defense Force’s (MDNF’s) Information Officer, Ibrahim Azim said the woman was rescued at approximately 8:40 A.M, following the reports of the woman attempting to jump.
After MNDF forces climbed up to her via a ladder and restrained her, she was taken inside the house through the window.
Police have stated that the matter is currently under investigation, however, no further details were revealed.
