The Cancer Society of Maldives and Bank of Maldives (BML) are partnering to hold a 'Pink Ribbon Walk' across various locations in Maldives on Saturday, in hopes of raising awareness about breast cancer.

BML stated that the walk will take place in the reclaimed suburb of Hulhumale’ as well as 27 other islands in which BML branches are established.

The first instance of BML’s annual ‘Pink Ribbon Walk’ was held in 2016 and garnered a substantial amount of public support during the past two events. This year marks the third such walk held by the company.

According to BML, interested parties are not required to re-register, and people can join the walk simply by purchasing a special t-shirt from the designated outlet.

All proceeds raised from the sale of t-shirts for the Pink Ribbon Run-Walk will be given to the Cancer Society of Maldives in support of their initiatives at increasing cancer awareness and provide psychosocial support to cancer patients and their families.

The T-shirts are to be sold for MVR 150 respectively, at LeCute near Chaandhanee Magu in capital Male’, Repute in Hulhumale', and in designated outlets at other islands.

According to the bank, special awareness sessions on breast cancer are to be held coinciding with the walk.
