Vice President Abdulla Jihad on Wednesday declared that he accepts the results of the Presidential Election held on September 23.
While answering a question by local media Mihaaru, VP Jihad said that he does not believe there is any reason to reject the results.
He revealed that he has extended his congratulations to President-Elect Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President-Elect Faisal Naseem.
While Jihad has declared his recognition of the election result, President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has accused the EC of rigging the election. The president, who lost the election by a wide margin of 38,000 votes, had initially conceded defeat while addressing the nation the day after polling.
VP Jihad is the third vice president of President Yameen's administration.
