Maldives Police Service's disciplinary board, last week, decided to withdraw its decision to dismiss Assistant Commissioner of Police Abdul Mannaan Yousuf, after investigating a disciplinary issue.

In May 2018, the disciplinary board of Maldives Police Service made their decision to dismiss Mannaan based on a matter of whistleblowing.

Mannaan maintains a close relationship with former Commissioners of Police Abdullah Riyaz and Ahmed Areef. However, following the February 1st Supreme Court landmark ruling and the events that followed after, Mannaan's position in the Maldives Police Service has been dormant.

Mannaan's appeal to the Appeal Board prompted the decision to overturn the decision of Mannaan's dismissal.

According to sources, the withdrawal to dismiss Mannaan followed the announcement of the preliminary election results.

Mannaan officially resumed his duty as Assistant Commissioner of Police beginning on September 24.
