Hussain Abdulla, the former Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Maldives, passed away late Thursday.

Born to Kendhoo, Baa Atoll, the 45-year-old succumbed to cancer while undergoing treatment at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in capital Male.

His funeral prayers were performed at the Islamic Centre after the Friday prayers.

Working as an Internal Auditor for Ministry of Finance and Treasury up until his unfortunate death, Hussain Abdulla had been receiving treatment for roughly three years.

According to his acquaintance, Hussain had showed up for work on Thursday but passed away in the evening due to a sudden degradation in his condition.

The former chief commissioner had been appointed the title of group leader at Arabiyya School, although due to the nature of his condition, he had not been physically present in the activities of the Arabiyya Scout Group for over a year.
