The Ministry of housing has made an announcement prohibiting watercraft from passing under the Sinamale bridge.

The Ministry stated that the platforms placed during the construction of the bridge, pose a risk to passing vessels as they have yet to be removed.

Swimmers and surfers in the Sinamale bridge area have also been advised to be cautious for the same reason. However, the surfing point has been re-opened following a two-year ban due to ongoing construction.

The bridge linking Male' and Hulhumale' was officially opened to the public on September 7.

Although tolls are to be charged, the Housing Ministry has not yet publicised the rates and for the time being trips across the bridge are free of charge.
