The opposition coalition's presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) declared that in a coalition government, they would reclaim land from the islands of Gaafaru and Dhiffushi, Kaafu Atoll, and issue plots to the citizens.
During his campaign tour to some of the islands in Kaafu Atoll, Ibu met with supporters from Dhiffushi and Gaafaru. While addressing them, he stated that housing is the biggest problem faced by the citizens of these islands.
He vowed to reclaim land from Gaafaru and Dhiffushi, and provide low-interest housing loans. He assured that only MVR 5,000 will be required as the rent per month.
In addition to this, he revealed some of the policies that the coalition will introduce in their government. He especially stressed on establishing a dock in Gaafaru.
While speaking at Dhiffushi, Ibu declared that people from all the islands are ready to embrace the change. He added that the journey towards eliminating corruption and establishing peace and justice will begin on September 23.
