Maldives Police begins an investigation into the suicide of a 25-year-old female Nepalese domestic worker in Male.
According to the announcement made by the Police, the body of the Nepalese woman is currently being held in the mortuary and arrangements are to transport her body to Nepal are underway.
Speculations are being made about the sudden death of the expatriate worker who was employed and working for a household located in the Maafannu district of capital Male.
According to local news media Mihaaru, the owner of the house was attempted to have the burial take place in Maldives. However, when the Embassy of Nepal in the Maldives expressed disapproval, the owners decided to transport the body to Nepal.
Apart from confirming that investigations are ongoing, the police did not issue any further statements concerning the case.
