Dhiraagu announces Dhiraagu Road Race 2018 with 4000 slots for runners.

Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race is the largest annual run held in the Maldives, bringing people and communities together from all over the country. This is the 12th consecutive year of the event, since its inception in 2007.

During the press conference held on Thursday, Dhiraagu slated Dhiraagu Road Race for November 2, to be held in Hulhumale’.

Due to considerable public support, Dhiraagu has announced that it has increased its participatory limit to 4000 people, as opposed to the 3000 people which participated in last year’s instalment of the road race.

The run which is dedicated to social causes has announced this year’s theme to dedicate their run to help protect children. It is the largest Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project that the telecom giant conducts.

Dhiraagu has opened the applications for organizations relevant to the protection of children’s rights to apply for the road race up until next Thursday. Runners registration starts on the 16th of September and runs until the 16th of October.

Dhiraagu had revealed some additions to this year’s road race including two separate medals for both the 5 kilometre and 10-kilometre races. The company had also announced its decision to lower the prices of the road race t-shirts to a mere MVR 100.

“All the money we generate from the event will the to the participating organizations who dedicate their efforts to protecting the rights of children,” said the Marketing and Communication Assistant Manager, Hassan Shareeh.

Categories in the race include:

Participants can either register for the 5km run or the 10 km run.
