No more chances for corrupt leaders: Ibu

Opposition coalition's presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih (Ibu) stated on Sunday that, should the opposition coalition wins the election, he will not tolerate attempts at corruption or embezzlement by any individual.

While speaking at Kondey, Gaafu Alifu, amidst his campaign canvass to Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu atolls, Ibu stated that he will not tolerate corruption and bribery. He further elaborated that the people of the Maldives will not accept development contaminated with corruption and that it is the biggest weakness of the ruling regime.

"With the commencement of every developmental plan, subsists an infinite amount of corruption and embezzlement. Building projects are budgeted at double the actual expense. This isn't something that the Maldivian people will accept", said Ibu.

Continuing his speech, he shed light to the immeasurable potential to develop the island of Kondey regardless of the island's small population.

Ibu also stated the importance of developing the Maldives under a decentralization act, he highlighted that most of the power of development will be handed over to the island's council. Ibu assuringly stated it would be the best approach to develop an island nation.

One of the noted vows that was made by Ibu to the people of Kondey was his assurance to develop guesthouse business on the island.

Furthermore, while speaking at Dhaandhoo, Gaafu Alifu, Ibu pointed out that most civilians of the islands are in need of justice. Therefore, he guaranteed the prevalence of justice in an opposition ruled government.

Select individuals joined Ibu on this trip including the President of the Kondey Island Council, Ahmed Abdul Hakim, Heads of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Dhivehi Raayithuge Party (DRP) , as well as prominent businessmen.

Ibu heartily mentioned the abundance of support received on both islands and the contingent majority of the atoll favoring the opposition coalition.
