Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) announced plans to release the reprinted cash notes of MVR 10 and MVR 100, which bear the signature of the central bank's new governor, into circulation coming Monday.

In a notice, the central bank stated that the cash notes, which belong to the 'Ran Dhiha Faheh' (golden five decades) currency series, were reprinted due to low stock. The new notes were brought to Maldives on July 5 where they have been securely kept in the national treasury since then.

The current Ran Dhiha Faheh series of MVR 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1,000 feature the signature of MMA's former Governor Dr. Azeema Adam. The reprinted MVR 10 and MVR 100 notes bear the signature of her successor, Ahmed Naseer, who assumed office last year August.

Ran Dhiha Faheh was released in January 2016 to commemorate 50 years of independence in the Maldives. It is the first Maldivian currency series to be printed on polymer paper, featuring a new design and special security features.
