The Maldivian government has announced the marriages to take place on the landmark Sinamale Bridge, which is being developed between capital Male and airport island Hulhule, will commence on August 31.

Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure opened applications for first-time marriages until Monday, but it has not disclosed any details on how many people have applied so far. Housing ministry has stated that more than 250 forms were handed over on the first day of the announcement.

The government had previously stated that the weddings would run from September 1 – 5, but has since preponed the ceremonies to August 31. No information has been presented regarding the number of ceremonies to be held simultaneously.

The ministry has opened up the opportunity for interested parties to submit financial proposals to decorate the weddings and backdrops until Sunday, September 19.

The housing ministry has announced five themes for the weddings to be held on the Sinamale Bridge – Maldivian, Chinese, Floral, Sunset and Vintage.
