Acting Commissioner of Police, Abdulla Nawaz, on Tuesday, called on Maldives Police Service to oversee security measures at the upcoming Presidential Election peacefully.

He made the request during a meeting held with the police's Specialist Operations (SO) division at Iskandhar Koshi in capital Male.

Addressing the SO unit, Nawaz advised the officers to persevere in carrying out their lawful mandate to serve the public despite the challenges they face in their line of work.

The meeting was also attended by Assistant Commissioner of Police Hamdhoon Rasheed, the security operations commander of the election slated to be held September 23.

With little more than a month left to the election, the police service is currently completing a number of training sessions in preparation for the voting day.
