Opposition coalition's presidential candidate, Ibrahim "Ibu" Mohamed Solih, pledged to revise the recently implemented fees levied on all sea vessels by the government.

The statement was made whilst speaking at a campaign stop in Madifushi, Thaa Atoll.

He further highlighted that the additional expenses would be a difficulty for all sea vessel owners, pledging to waiver these expenses as well as penalties should the opposition coalition win the upcoming presidential elections.

"We have had multiple complaints from sea vessel owners at every island we have visited so far. This is a concern of ours. We believe that the hardships faced by the people of a country should be of concern to the government and must be revised accordingly", said Ibu while speaking at the Madifushi MDP campaign office.

An island that consists predominantly of Maldivian Democratic Party supporters, the campaign stop at Madifushi was attended by many islanders wishing to demonstrate eager support to the party's presidential candidate.

The people of Madifushi expressed concerns regarding the pending matter of areas that had been reclaimed to solve the island's housing issues, with several inhabitants highlighting a lack of a permanent housing solution for the island's youth.

Ibu extended his pledge with promises to find solutions for the problems mentioned, within the first six months of a coalition government's rise to power.
