The managing director of Maldives Airport Company (MACL), Adil Moosa stated that additional franchise restaurants due to open at the "Waterfront Restaurant" at Velana International Airport (VIA) will be brought to completion and begin operations at the end of August.
Speaking at the opening of the 'Gloria Jean's Coffees' outlet at the airport departure hall, Adil revealed that the projects to open more franchise outlets have nearly reached completion.
Velana International Airport's 'Gloria Jean's' outlet was the first of its kind to open at the airport. The brand's first franchise in Maldives opened earlier this year, located in the pavilion at Rasfannu Beach.
"We are willing to do and are doing, everything we can to reinforce the development of the airport. Although the airport is yet to reach completion, we are comitted to serving to the needs and services of all passengers," said Adil.
According to Adil, franchise restaurants to be opened include famous British brand 'Costa Coffee', and 'KFC and Pizza Hut.
The outlets of these franchises have been constructed, and are currently carrying out the final touches to the kitchens. The new dining facilities to opened at Velana International Airport are to be housed in a grand 14,000 square feet building .
The agreement to assemble the franchise restaurants was signed with Italy's HMSHost International on 29 Jan 2018.
