The Ministry of Islamic Affairs kickstarts its distribution of 50 tonnes of dates donated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Maldives.

In a recent press statement, a spokeperson from the Islamic Ministry stated that only a single packet of dates will be donated to each household.

The recipient of the dates must be Maldivian and is required to present their national identification card along with the registry of the household. For rented households, the original transcript of the agreement is required to receive the dates.

The Ministry is tasked with distributing the dates to households of Male' & Villimale' and while 'Hulhumale Development Corporation' distributes the dates to the households of Hulhumale', Atoll councils and Island councils will dispense dates in their respective islands and atolls.

The distribution of the dates will be conducted in the manner of first-come-first-serve basis until all 50 tonnes been donated.
