The High Court has upheld the Criminal Court's verdict sentencing Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed to four months and 24 days in prison for shutting down the GEMS system.
The Chief of Justice was convicted of ordering the shut down of the government's E-letter management system, in February.
After investigating the case, the appellate court stated that there seemed no reason why the verdict against Abdualla Saeed should be changed.
The High Court ruled in favour of the Criminal Court only after two hearings for the case.
In addition to the GEMS issue, Abdulla Saeed is also charged with attempting to orchestrate an act of terrorism and obstruction of justice. Those cases are on going at the Criminal Court.
