Reollo Investment Pvt Ltd, one of the leading tourism suppliers in the Maldives, is preparing to launch a brand new domestic airline in the archipelago coming October.

"Manta Air" is to be introduced under the newly formed Manta Aviation. The company is set to commence operations with a fleet of three ATR 72 airliners and four seaplanes.

"Our aircrafts will reach the Maldives in September. We're planning to launch flights in time for the tourist season beginning in October," stated a senior official of Reollo Investment, the firm that operates Kandima Maldives resort and the regional domestic airport in Dhaalu Atoll

According to the official, the Civil Aviation Authority granted the No Objection Certificate to form Manta Air last week. They further confirmed that the posts of Manta Aviation's senior management have already been filled, and the company has commenced its official work.

Manta Air is to initially operate flights from Velana International Airport to Kudahuvadhoo in Dhaalu Atoll, Ifuru in Raa Atoll, Dharavandhoo in Baa Atoll, and Thimarafushi in Thaa Atoll.

Currently, only the state-run Island Aviation Services, and local tycoon Qasim Ibrahim's Villa Air operate domestic flights across the Maldives. Seaplane services are operated by Island Aviation and Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA).
