The Maldives government Friday, formally established diplomatic relations with Côte d'Ivoire.
The joint communiqué formalising diplomatic relations between the two countries was signed on behalf of the Maldives by Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, the Permanent Representative of Maldives to the United Nations, and on behalf of Côte d'Ivoire, Bernard Tanoh-Boutchoue, the Permanent Representative of Côte d'Ivoire to the United Nations.
The communiqué was signed at the Permanent Mission of Maldives to the United Nations.
The establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries marks a historic opening for cooperation connecting the peoples of the two countries in all areas of mutual interest.
The Republic of Côte D'Ivoire is the 167th country to establish diplomatic relations with the Maldives.
