Privately run ADK Hospital introduced “ADK at Home”, a special service for senior citizens in the Maldives, on Monday.

The hospital’s managing director Ahmed Afaal stated during a special press conference that a team from the hospital would visit patients who register for this service. He added that this included carrying out certain laboratory investigations without having to visit the hospital.

Afaal went on to say that the service specialized for senior citizens (above the age of 65), aims to provide efficient healthcare to patients in the comfort of their own homes. He also noted that there would be no need to call and request for service as the team would conduct visits as per a special schedule.

The service is categorized into three groups. The first group, Green, is for patients who do not require urgent medical attention, and they will have to pay a registration fee of MVR 4,500 and a monthly fee of MVR 900. The second group, Yellow, are for patients who require more frequent medical attention. While they have to pay a registration fee of MVR 4,000, this group’s monthly fee is MVR 1,200. The last group is Red, which is for patients who require constant and urgent medical help. For those patients, the registration fee is MVR 3,500 with a monthly fee of MVR 1,500.

At the moment this service is not covered by health insurance schemes. However, ADK stated that discussions are underway to include their new service under national healthcare insurance scheme Aasandha and other health insurance schemes.
