The Maldives' government issued a statement condemning the attacks on Palestinians by Israel’s military.

16 people were killed and more wounded in the attacks that took place along the Gaza-Israel border on Friday as 30,000 Gazans participated in the "March of Return", a series of mass protests slated to continue for weeks.

In the message delivered by the Maldivian foreign minister Dr. Mohamed Asim to the Palestinian foreign minister Dr. Riyad al-Maliki, he condemned the attacks in the harshest terms, sending condolences to the families of victims killed in the attack.

In addition,  Asim stated that the Maldives would always support the plight of the Palestinians and would continue to advocate for them in the international community.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also called for an independent and transparent investigation into the deaths and injuries along Gaza's border with Israel, according to a statement given by his spokesmen this Friday.
