The official website of the Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) and the "Moosun" application, designed with modern changes, have been launched today.

The services were launched by Environment Minister Ali Shareef.

The "Moosun" app can now be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Furthermore, the Met Office's new website can also be used starting today.

To conveniently provide citizens with real-time weather information needed for various regions of the Maldives and early warning system services, these digital platforms were launched under the "Thayyaar" project run jointly by the Met Office and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The Environment Ministry stated that these digital platforms are designed to view weather forecasts tailored specifically to individual areas by integrating information received from weather stations, high-resolution numerical models, and satellite photos.

According to the ministry, through the website and mobile app targeted at the general public, travelers, and event organizers, users can check real-time weather conditions, tide tables, sea conditions, and weather emergency warning notifications.

The "Thayyaar" project is an initiative carried out to strengthen early warning systems for disaster prevention and to increase preparedness for weather-related challenges.

This project is conducted with assistance from the Chinese government through the UNDP, the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), and the Global Development and South-South Cooperation Fund (GDF).
