The Yellow Alert will be in place from 3pm till 7pm tonight, forecasting torrential rain and thunderstorms.

MET has also issued a White Alert from 2pm to 8pm covering all atolls across the country except for Addu.

Windspeeds are expected to rise to 35mph in gusts.

Recent heavy rains have been causing flooding in several islands, especially in northern and southern atolls. Nearly all islands in Haa Dhaalu atoll have notified the National Disaster Management Authority of flood damage.
