Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) said today that Dheraha ran aground a reef to the north of GA. Fenfuttaa while traveling from Male' to Thinadhoo last night. MNDF said that the Southern Area Command Coast Guard Fourth Squadron provided assistance to the crew aboard the vessel at the time of the incident.

MNDF said that the incident had been reported after 12:30am, and Coast Guard had responded immediately.

MNDF said that in about an hour after the incident, the Coast Guard's Harbour Craft had rescued from sea four Maldivians and seven foreigners who had been travelling on Dheraha. Later, the Harbour Craft had also collected three individuals who had gone to the uninhabited Fenfuttaa on a dinghy.

The crew were later transferred on to the vessel 'Swift' when it arrived at the location at approximately 4am, MNDF said. The vessel 'Swift' had been sent to the site by the owner of 'Dheraha' to help with recovery of the damaged vessel.

MNDF said that Coast Guard assisted with the recovery efforts.
