Customs has seized one kilogram of suspected party drugs being smuggled into the Maldives through a courier package.

Maldives Customs Service said the drugs were seized last Saturday after officers searched a package brought into the country by courier on suspicion that it contained narcotics.

The package was further examined at Velana International Airport, where officers found one kilogram of drugs, which Customs identified as a party drug.

The seizure follows another drug bust last Friday, when Customs intercepted two kilograms of party drugs being smuggled into the Maldives through the postal service.
